What dynamic unlocks

What you can change after printing.

The printed pattern stays the same. Destination, routing, and analytics sit behind it, so you can change them later.

01

Edit the destination after printing

The printed QR stays the same. The destination can change. Swap the URL from your dashboard and every code already on a flyer, box, or sign follows the new page. You edit once instead of reprinting.

Changes · AnytimeReprint · Never
02

Route scans by device

Send iPhone scans to the App Store, Android to Google Play, and everyone else to your web page, from one printed code. Smart redirects pick the destination at scan time.

Rule · DeviceCodes · Just one
03

Route scans by time of day

The same QR can open a lunch menu at noon, a dinner menu at six, or an after-hours page at midnight, depending on when it is scanned. Set the windows once in My QRs.

Rule · Time of daySet in · My QRs
04

Track scans as derived signals

See total scans, device class, OS family, country, city, and time of day per code. Raw IPs are not stored. Tracking cookies are not set. The stored fields are derived, aggregate signals.

05

A/B test placements

Give each poster, table tent, or channel its own dynamic code pointing at the same destination, then compare scans side by side.

Compare · Per codeOutput · Winner
06

Fix a typo or a dead link

If a printed code points at the wrong URL, or the page 404s after a site migration, a dynamic code can be repointed in seconds. A static code needs a reprint.

The 4-step flow

How to make a dynamic QR code.

From content to a print-ready, editable QR in under two minutes. You need an account only when you want to edit or track it.

1

Pick your QR type and content

URL, PDF, vCard, or WiFi: pick the type you need and drop in the destination in the generator above. You can start without an account.

20 seconds
2

Toggle Dynamic in the Advanced tab

Turn on Make it dynamic. The QR then points at a QRBliss short link you control, instead of baking the URL in permanently. That short link is what makes editing, routing, and analytics possible.

5 seconds
3

Style it and download print-ready

Upload a logo and AI Brand Sync matches your colors while checking the code still scans. Export PNG, SVG, or print-ready PDF with bleed and quiet zone included. There is no watermark.

60 seconds
4

Edit, route, and track from My QRs

Sign up free to claim the code (15 active dynamic codes on the free tier). From My QRs you can change the destination, add device or time-of-day redirect rules, and read the scan log.

Why QRBliss for dynamic

15 free dynamic codes, with routing and analytics.

No watermark. Some tools treat dynamic as the paywall; check what a free tier actually includes before you print.

15 dynamic codes free

QRBliss includes 15 active dynamic codes on the free tier, with editable destinations and analytics. There is no trial clock and no card. Some other tools hide dynamic codes behind a paywall or cap the free tier at one.

No signup to start

Generate and download your QR before creating an account. Sign up when you want to edit the destination later, add redirect rules, or see analytics. The initial download does not wait on an account.

Smart redirect rules

Route by device (iOS / Android / desktop) or time of day from one printed code. Set the rules in My QRs; the redirect resolver picks the destination at scan time in milliseconds.

Privacy-first analytics

QRBliss derives country and city from request headers and discards the IP before it is stored. Raw IPs and tracking cookies are not used. The stored fields are aggregate signals.

AI Brand Sync keeps contrast scannable

Upload a logo and Brand Sync extracts your palette in under 2 seconds, then checks that the code still meets scannability contrast before you download.

No watermark · Business unlimited

Every export is watermark-free on every tier. Business removes the 15-code cap and adds bulk dynamic batches and custom domains.

Mistakes we see most

Four common dynamic QR mistakes.

Each one comes from mixing up the printed pattern with the destination behind it.

Using a static code for a destination that will change

Print a static code on 5,000 boxes, then change the landing page, and those boxes still encode the old URL. Static bakes the address in. There is no edit, only a reprint.

Fix · Use dynamic for campaigns, menus, listings, or packaging if the destination may change. Static is fine when the destination is permanent.

Assuming the QR pattern expires

A dynamic QR's pattern is pixels; it does not expire on its own. What depends on the platform is the redirect behind it. Mixing those up leads people to over-pay or panic-print.

Fix · Check a platform's kill-switch policy. QRBliss dynamic codes stay active while your account is. See do QR codes expire?

One dynamic code for every placement

Reuse the same code on a flyer, a poster, and a story and the analytics blur into one number. You will know it was scanned, not which placement earned it.

Fix · Use one dynamic code per placement, same destination. Per-code analytics then show exactly what's working. More on this in QR code tracking.

Skipping the test scan before printing

A heavily styled dynamic code that looks good on screen can fail under a phone camera in real lighting. Finding that out after the print run costs the print run.

Fix · Scan the exported code on both an iPhone and an Android, at the real distance, before committing to print. QRBliss checks contrast at export, but a real-world test is free insurance.

Dynamic QR FAQ

Common dynamic QR questions.

What is a dynamic QR code?

A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect link (like qrbliss.com/r/abc) instead of the final destination. The printed pattern never changes, but you control where that link points, so you can edit the destination, route scans by device or time, and track scans without reprinting. More detail is in static vs dynamic QR codes.

Are dynamic QR codes free?

QRBliss includes 15 active dynamic codes on the free tier, with editable destinations, smart redirect rules, and scan analytics. No watermark, no credit card, no trial countdown. For more than 15 active at once, Pro and Business remove the cap. Some other tools hide dynamic codes behind a paywall, so confirm a free tier actually lets you edit and track before you print.

How do I make a dynamic QR code?

Create a code in the generator above, open the Advanced tab, and turn on Make it dynamic. Style it, download a print-ready export, then sign up free to claim it. From My QRs you can change the destination, add device or time-of-day rules, and see scans. Generating and downloading needs no account; editing it later does.

Can I change a dynamic QR code after printing?

Open My QRs, pick the code, and update the destination URL. Every printed copy keeps working and points at the new page. The change propagates within seconds (a short cache window bounds worst-case staleness), so the printed pattern never has to change.

Do dynamic QR codes expire?

The pattern itself does not expire; it is pixels. The redirect behind it stays live as long as your QRBliss account is active. Codes from a cancelled plan are paused, not deleted. A static code bakes the URL in. Full breakdown: do QR codes expire?

Is QRBliss dynamic QR tracking private?

Yes. QRBliss stores derived signals only: device class, OS family, country, canonical city, and timestamp. Raw IP addresses are discarded before any write, and no tracking cookies are set on scanners' devices. More in QR code tracking.

Planning an ongoing campaign

Start with the number of codes you need.

Free includes 15 active dynamic codes and a 30-day analytics window. Pro adds unlimited dynamic codes and full recorded analytics history. Business adds CSV batches when you need to create many URL codes together. Changing one destination alone does not require a paid subscription.

Make a QR you can edit after it is printed.

Edit the destination anytime, route by device or time, and track scans. 15 codes free, no watermark, no signup to start.
